1 John 4:7-10 NKJV
Throughout our lives, we will face many challenges, but God has given us love, a powerful force that can bring healing and well-being in our lives and frankly throughout our communities. So, believers are charged to know the importance of loving one another as Christ loved us. Here, Apostle John addressed his audience, his disciples as “Beloved,” saying, “let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God” (v.7). “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (v.8). To know God is to have an intimate relationship with Him – you are born again, His Holy Spirit lives in you.
Love is who God is; therefore, it is central to being a child of God. It is not just an emotion; it is a choice that believers make every day to prove we are children of God and are called to love others, no matter who they are, from where they come, and etc. For sure if you do not love your neighbor, you do not know God because God is love. Children of God’s everyday interactions must reflect who they are in Christ.
John continued to provide us sure proof that there is no limit to God’s love for mankind: “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (v.9). “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (v.10).
Lift your voice and give God glory!
